Why artists choose Planet Hum
An automated service runs your file through a process. A mastering engineer listens to what your mix actually needs, flags problems when you ask, and stands behind the result.
A person listens to every track
Each song gets real attention in a treated room. If a change at the mix stage would give you a better master, we'll tell you — when you want to know.
Analog where it counts
Bettermaker, SSL, Weiss and Dangerous Music hardware in the chain, with precise digital tools alongside. The combination is chosen for each track.
PH Enhanced
Our preferred service. It starts from your normal stereo mix — no stems needed — and adds Planet Hum's own enhancement process on top of hybrid mastering.
A room built for mastering
Soundproofed and acoustically treated from the ground up, with a $40,000 acoustic design and Genelec, Neumann and NS-10 monitoring, so decisions made here hold up on earbuds, in cars and on club systems.
Fast, not rushed
Masters back within 48 hours of receiving all your files and notes, Monday to Friday. Larger EP and album projects get a schedule agreed up front.
Clear communication
Plain-language notes, real replies, and one revision round included with every order.

Extras
Built from the ground up to be heard.
- 16 × 14 ft488 × 427 cm
- 9.5 ft290 cm ceiling
- $40,000acoustic design
- Custommastering workstation
Finished interior dimensions — measured inside the room after soundproofing and acoustic treatment.
Most rooms get treated after the fact. Ours was designed for mastering before it was built — soundproofed and acoustically treated from the floor up, with a $40,000 acoustic design behind every surface. The result is a quiet, balanced space where what you hear is the music, not the room.
At its centre is a custom-built mastering desk and workstation, laid out so the monitors, outboard and engineer sit exactly where they should.
Why the room matters as much as the rack
A master is only as good as the decisions behind it, and those decisions are made by ear. That's why the monitoring comes first: Genelec 8351B main monitors, Neumann KH 120 and Yamaha NS-10 references, all switched through a Dangerous Music Monitor ST so a mix can be checked on very different speakers in seconds.
The analog chain is real and in the room: Bettermaker Mastering EQ and Darth limiter, Weiss Dione, SSL Fusion, SPL BiG, Empirical Labs FATSO and Dangerous Music 2-BUS+ summing — working with UAD, Waves and our own custom mastering tools. What gets used depends on the song.

Guides
Straight answers on preparing your mix for mastering, written from the mastering chair.

Headroom and peak levels
Why −3 to −6 dB True Peak, and why headroom isn't the same thing as loudness.

What to leave on your master bus
The limits for compression, EQ and saturation — and why the limiter has to come off.

The pre-mastering checklist
Ten things to tick off before you export and upload your mix.
Before you send your first track
What files should I send?
An uncompressed WAV at your session's native sample rate and bit depth (e.g. 24-bit / 44.1 or 48 kHz) — no upsampling, no dither, no MP3s. Take the limiter off the master bus and leave peaks between −3 and −6 dB True Peak. Our mix preparation guide walks through every step.
How much does it cost?
Stereo $50, PH Enhanced $80 and Stem $120 per track, with one revision round included. EP and album mastering is quoted per project — just get in touch. See pricing.
How long does it take?
48 hours or less, counted from when all your files and notes have arrived. The studio works Monday to Friday, so files that arrive on a Friday are delivered on Monday or Tuesday, depending on the work. Bigger projects get an agreed schedule.
What's the difference between PH Enhanced and stem mastering?
PH Enhanced works from your normal stereo mix using our own process. Stem mastering needs you to export and send separate stems.
Will it work on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube?
Yes. Every order includes a master ready for the major streaming platforms.
Do you master for vinyl?
Not at the moment.
Ready when
